Our initial plan this time was to reach Rasuwa directly and provide health and relief services to communities affected by the floods and landslides. However, due to difficult terrain, challenging road conditions and various circumstances, we were unable to reach the affected areas of Rasuwa.
But our journey did not end there.We reached Bidur, Betrabati and the Tamang Holding Centre, where we provided health check-ups, medical consultations, essential medicines and relief materials to affected and displaced families. We also distributed sanitary pads and other essential daily necessities. Although we could not reach the affected areas of Rasuwa, we take some comfort in knowing that we were able to provide health services, medicines and relief support to communities displaced from and affected by the Rasuwa disaster. For TDS Nepal, Rasuwa is more than just a place of service. Our very first health camp was conducted in Naukunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa. Our connection with Rasuwa is therefore rooted not only in service, but also in emotion, responsibility and a deep sense of belonging.That is why not being able to reach the affected communities directly has been deeply painful for us. And yet, what we witnessed during this journey is difficult to put into words.
The suffering, shortages and uncertainty faced by displaced families reminded us of one thing: The suffering is not over. The needs are still there. And neither is our responsibility. TDS Nepal extends its heartfelt gratitude to Maya Lama, who, despite being personally ill and affected herself, took the initiative to identify families in need, guide us towards them and help us reach the affected communities directly.To rise above one's own suffering and stand for the suffering of others is one of the most beautiful forms of humanity.
